GeneralsX

Open comms

Maintained by people who still care.

GeneralsX turns decades of preservation and portability work into releases that players can use now—and every contribution strengthens that chain.

The mission

Preserve behavior. Expand access.

The objective is not to redesign Generals. It is to preserve the retail strategy experience while making the platform beneath it portable, reproducible, and maintainable.

The “X” stands for cross-platform—and nods to the Mega Man X series. Today the project delivers Generals and Zero Hour builds for Linux, macOS, and Windows while keeping future platforms within reach.

Shared lineage

No preservation project stands alone.

GeneralsX integrates foundational work from across the Command & Conquer community and keeps that lineage visible.
