GeneralsX contains the open-source engine, not Electronic Arts’ original art, audio, maps, or other game data. You must own a legitimate copy of Command & Conquer: Generals or Zero Hour.

The exact setup differs by platform, but the deployment pattern stays simple.

  1. 01Own and locate the game data.
    Steam is the primary tested source; other retail releases may work.
  2. 02Download the matching GeneralsX build.
    Zero Hour and the original game ship as separate platform artifacts.
  3. 03Follow the platform installation guide.
    Flatpak on Linux, app bundles on macOS, and an archive for Windows.
  4. 04Deploy and report what you find.
    Beta feedback and reproducible issue reports directly improve the engine.

No local install

Use the community WebAssembly build in a compatible browser. Your legally owned game data still stays under your control.
